In 2014, a company from the USA reached out to us to discuss an electrospun biomaterial concept. Working closely with their team, we entered a development program with the aim to create an electrospun biomaterial that would be integrated into their orthopaedic medical device.
In 2016, this medical device obtained FDA market approval. This was a big milestone for The Electrospinning Company as our first client project to obtain market approval with our electrospun component in their device.
Following the acquisition of this company by a Fortune 500-listed medical device company, The Electrospinning Company continues to manufacture and supply the electrospun component at an ever-increasing commercial scale.
Since the launch in 2016, two additional medical devices containing electrospun components have obtained market approval and are marketed internationally. Over 10,000 patients have been treated to date.
