Our Image Analysis Service

The Electrospinning Company will analyse your material samples for fibre diameter and/or pore size distribution. We will provide a report which includes the

  • raw data
  • mean and standard deviation of the respective data sets
  • graphical presentation of the fibre diameter distribution
  • further statistical analysis, if required.

Fibre diameter analysis

The fibre diameter and its variation within one sample are important quality parameters of electrospun fibres. Using the Fibermetric application from PhenomWorld, we can generate highly accurate and reproducible data to obtain information about the scale and quality of any nano- or microfibrous sample.

 

Pore distribution

Cellular infiltration into fabricated scaffolds is essential for most tissue engineering applications. The extent of cellular infiltration into the scaffold is dictated by pore size, porosity, and pore interconnectivity. Networks with micrometre-sized fibres have been shown to allow cells to ingress, whereas networks comprising thinner fibres only allow surface proliferation. Although the pore size distribution of non-woven fibre networks is inherently difficult to measure, Fibermetric offers one possibility for doing so, generating consistent, high-quality data to compare different samples.
